Paint with Smoke

Salvador Dali and Wolfgang Paalen have done some amazing work with this method of "painting". Using a canvas, a candle, a tablecloth for protection, and fire - you can be a surrealist, dadaist painter extraordinaire! Painting with flame and smoke is a beautiful technique, especially after you get it right, and then you can go crazy with it. Just try not to say things like "I'm a toaster who bakes razor penguins in my cottage!" You'll sound like you're 14, instead of sounding like a prolific, visionary artist.

German painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and poet. A prolific artist, Ernst was one of the primary pioneers of the Dada movement and Surrealism.

"Nude Descending a Staircase No.2" by Marcel Duchamp

"Nude Descending a Staircase No.2" by Marcel Duchamp

This piece is called "Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2" by Marcel Duchamp. Duchamp was a French surrealist and dadaist artist. I like the color scheme of this piece. I really like the raw quality of this painting as well. I like the harsh lines and contrast of it.
